Düden Waterfalls


There are 2 Düden Waterfalls. First one is called Upper Düden Waterfalls. It is about 12 km from Antalya city center and located in Varsak district. Upper Düden Waterfall is also called Iskender Waterfall locally, because it is believed that horses of Büyük Iskender (Alexander the Great) drank water here.

There are beautiful karstic structures formed by corrosion of water in Düden. Just under the waterfall there is a cave called Dilek Cave, meaning Cave of Wishes. Path inside the cave goes behind the waterfall and it can be watched from another perspective. Intensity of water flow can be felt better as you come close to waterfall inside the cave.

Other than waterfalls, the region has a nice, natural vegetation. There exists many picnic areas and restaurants magnificent view of waterfalls and Mediterranean sea while eating delicious fishes.

Second waterfall is called Lower Düden Waterfall (also known as Karpuzkaldiran Waterfall). Lower Düden Waterfall at 10 km distance from the other one. It directly reaches to sea at Lara Beach. Lower Düden Waterfall flows into Mediterranean sea from top of cliffs at 50 meters height.

The best view of Lower Düden Waterfalls is from the view from sea. Therefore it is suggested to take a boat trip from Antalya old harbour to watch Lower Düden Waterfall.
